Retail

12 December 2014

There's a little giggle for you, each and every one of those is true!

A lot of people think that working in retail is a piece of cake, literally go away! You have no idea what you’re talking about…
Anyway…you will be aware that I work in a clothing shop which I love. Over the next month or so my posts will probably be a bit slower, although I’m trying to keep up!

Have you ever worked in retail? What did you think?

O…is for Opportunities

21 November 2014

I am definitely one for taking opportunities. Or at least I like to think I am! I recently had to decide whether to take an opportunity so that I could gain more experience or look for another job just so that I would have plenty of money.

I think it’s obvious which one I went for! I absolutely love my job and I’m so glad I get to stay! Sure it will be a struggle for a while but in some cases like this, it’s always better to think about what is going to happen in the long term, and with regards to my career, this is the best thing for it right now.

There are other areas of my life that I have taken up opportunities too. I have previously mentioned that I have been lucky enough to be offered two other writing opportunities that in my opinion are going really well!

It really goes to show that what you wanted to do 10 years ago or even 5, isn’t necessarily what you’re going to be doing for your career. Who knows where these opportunities are going to take me in the future, but I’m staying positive!

Getting Back Into Cooking

7 October 2014

So for a few weeks I was very conscious of the fact that I wasn’t cooking, I would just grab the quickest thing I could find instead of putting a bit of thought into what I should be eating, what I had already eaten that day or even that week and choosing my meals based on that.

I have already noticed this week that I have really changed the way that I think about what I should be eating. I’m really making sure that I get the vegetables I should, and the fruit as well which I have been eating as a snack. There is something about clementines and similar fruit that should be eaten just at autumn and Christmas, maybe that’s when they are in season? I don’t know, either way I know that I will be regularly buying these fruits in the build up to Christmas to make sure that I get all of the vitamin C that I should be.

Now you all know how much I love cooking and I always have the freezer stocked up with all kinds of food so I am now using what I’ve got and making up recipes with the ingredients that I have, so that I am not spending money which I don’t have!

I start work again in a couple of weeks, in a retail store and I know that this is going to be quite a hard job over Christmas and I need to be able to keep my energy levels up and also not get ill at Christmas! I’m already thinking about the meals that I can make while being in my budget and also things that are quick and easy after a long day at work. As well I need to consider what to have for my lunch so that I don’t go out to Marks and Spencer and spend nearly £5 a day, I know I can make myself a better lunch than that ;)

I’ll come back in a couple of weeks and show you the ideas that I have been making myself. If you have any good ideas that I can use then please send them my way!

F…is for Future

19 September 2014

This is something that I try to stay positive about, and trust me it isn’t always easy. Over the past year or so there have been a few unfortunate situations that have left my future undetermined. Not something I’m proud of but I wouldn’t be who I am now if they hadn’t occurred.
I have overcome all of the hurdles and I’m certainly ready to jump over the next one whether I go with plan A, B or C (yes I need all 3 plans!).

I admit it is tough when you aren’t sure of the career you want or what your next plan is. I’ve been there and there is no doubt I will be there again. Your future is a tough one but it is what you make it (Bursts into Hannah Montana song Life’s What You Make It).

It is true though, you could sit around all day watching TV and getting fat by living off of someone else. Or you could go out and do whatever it takes to get a job or even if you are at home, try and do something with your time. I know that I have done this at some points but it doesn’t help my future at all.

If I’m not studying or at work then I’m most likely doing something blog related but at least there’s something to show for it… it really helps having a hobby like this but I also now finally have one I can enjoy and share with others.

And I know that I can use it as part of my future, making it look that little bit brighter!
