Storing Photos & Birthdays

21 January 2015

Over the weekend it was my mum and sister's birthdays. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet but I was pretty pleased with the presents I put together.

For my mum I got one of the new season Chanel nail varnishes (Exception to be exact) and some walnut whips, all her favourites.

For my sister, she got one of the Fujifilm Instax Cameras for Christmas, so I put together a little make-shift scrapbook kit for her. I bought a notebook with blank pages, and relatively small, a bit smaller than A5, to fit the photos in. I then got a nice blue pen to add a note about the time the photo was taken. And of course some washi tape to stick the photo down. The great thing about wash tape is that it doesn't ruin the paper and that way my sister can take out the photos if she wants to use them for something else.

We went to The Charter Restaurant in Salisbury for their birthday lunch. I just can't resist sharing this beautiful food with you!

On another note, I'm going to work on my own scrapbook soon. I ordered some photos from the free prints app on iPhone and I'm waiting for them to be delivered so I will give you an update when they do!

K…is for Kingston upon Thames

24 October 2014

This is one hell of a beautiful place and somewhere that I get the pleasure of calling home!

I originally come from Salisbury and they are very similar except that in Kingston the shops are way better.

It’s in the name but Kingston sits on the river Thames and in the summer there is nowhere else I would rather be than in one of the pubs overlooking the river drinking a cold cider!

I’ve been through a lot in this place and sure it would probably be much easier to run away and start again but what kind of a person would that make me?

I’m not leaving anytime soon no matter what anyone says!
My life and my friends are in Kingston now and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I’m really looking forward to what I can achieve while I live here!

Plus as a bonus, I’m only half an hour away from London on the train which is great for when I want a day out there!

My Weekend in the Countryside

5 October 2014

To top of what started as the best week ever, ended with the best weekend at home. It started off with receiving my Graze boxes. Then driving home to Salisbury.

My Nan came over for her Friday afternoon visit, and then we went to Nandos for dinner. Again, standard Friday night dinner! It was delicious as always and nice to spend some time as a family.

Saturday has to be the most eventful day of the weekend. I went out for lunch to Fisherton Mill with my Mum, as it’s so great there. This time they had changed the menu entirely so it was time to try something new. I had marinated chicken and avocado salsa on an open sandwich. It isn’t my most favourite thing that I’ve had there but it was good to try something new. My mum had a smoked salmon and prawn open sandwich. Then we couldn’t resist but got dessert, I mean look at this meringue my mum had!

Back at home I relaxed for a bit with my dogs who I don’t get to see until I get home again on Christmas eve (I can’t begin to explain how much I’ll miss them). When my dad got home, I helped to unpack the shopping to make dinner, and then I got the phone call that made my entire week! At the beginning of the week I got one job, but being in a difficult financial place I had in the back of my mind that I needed to get another part time job as well. So I got the phone call that is going to help my career a huge amount!

I decided a couple of weeks ago that retail is the way that I want to go with my career, and this has given me the chance to be trained up through the company. I’ve never been so excited! And to make it even better, I’m jumping in at the deep end and starting Monday evening to help with Launch night. This means I get a good glimpse at the season ahead and ideas on my uniform! I’m unbelievably nervous with that bit of excitement as well.

That night we celebrated, a bit too hard, with sushi and so much wine. My sister was having a party so I joined in with them and ended up with small recollection of the night. Oops.

Needless to say I woke up with a horrible headache that I still have now! I tried to get rid of it with an amazing roast dinner but that didn’t seem to work, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

It’s now going to be one of those relaxed Sunday evenings watching X factor before I go back to Kingston and start working!

H…is for home

3 October 2014

“Home is where the heart is”

This is a hard one to be honest, I completely agree with the above phrase but being a student I have two homes and my heart is in both places.

My family, dogs and Nan all live in Salisbury, so I love being there with them and Salisbury is such a nice place (most of the time anyway). My heart is definitely there; it’s the family home after all.

I’ve always considered moving back to Salisbury after University but it would all depend on what opportunities are around there and in Kingston. Who knows what could happen hey?

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, I went to University in Kingston so I mainly live there now, and I love it. So I would have to say that my heart is in Kingston and it’s also home!

I wouldn’t change it for the world!!
