Motivation

31 May 2014

Naturally, it’s hard to stay motivated every second of every day and this journey is a complete rollercoaster. Over the past few weeks I’ve had so many people behind me telling me that what I’m doing is amazing, that in itself is such motivation to keep going.

Everyday, or near enough, I give myself a list of things to do, no matter how big or small they are, but also weekly goals to aim for so I always have a little goal to work towards and not just the big goal which can sometimes seem so far away.

I’m always so hard on myself, criticising everything I do and always feeling like that’s not good enough when in truth it actually is, if not better! So one thing I really need to start doing is praise myself a bit more.

I’ve actually done a lot of researching recently, looking at other people’s blogs and then finding links to other pages, which turn out to be really useful. This is particularly inspiring, as you can see I haven’t posted for a week or so and I almost felt like giving up, but I’ve had a bit of inspiration and finally got round to posting some recipes I’ve tried recently.

Obviously everything can’t always go to plan the way that you want it to, so it’s always best to have a back up plan when these things go wrong. It’s also not a bad thing to ask for help! I always give someone a heads up to tell me what to eat when we go out so that I don’t get the unhealthiest option on the menu and then I can still enjoy going out for lunch or dinner!

Even though I’ve said that breaking down your goals is a good way to stay focused, you also need to remember the main goal that you’re working towards in the long run.

One thing that is keeping me going right now is that I lost 2 lbs this week, I have a holiday to look good for at the end of July, and all the summer parties to look forward to.

Here’s some beautiful pictures of me working out to show that you can do it too!

That's a 15kg bag not 3kg!! My personal trainer wouldn't be that easy on me!

Smoothies

22 May 2014

In March when I first came home from uni for Easter break, I had homemade smoothies for breakfast most of the time. They aren’t the most aesthetically pleasing smoothies but they do taste delicious! So here are the recipes for the ones I often have:

Ingredients:
A handful and a half of smoothie mix (you can get a few different frozen mixes from Waitrose)
1 banana
About 100ml of coconut water or water if you prefer – it depends how thick you want it, so add more or less whichever your preference
I also add a teaspoon of chia seeds and spirulena
You may want to add a bit of sugar if it is too sour

Directions:
Blend it all together till smooth!

Everyone should try these smoothies! They’re so filling and set you up for the rest of the day. Oh and they really do help you to lose weight and make you feel great.

This one was using a kiwi smoothie mix.

And this one was using a berry smoothie mix.

Overeating

20 May 2014

Over the past few days I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. Not necessarily a good thing! I always find that I overeat when I’m stressed or upset, basically comfort eating. A lot of people will comfort eat occasionally but it obviously got to a point where I was eating all the time, not only when I was stressed or upset but when I was bored as well. Basically if I weren’t doing something productive, I’d be eating. This then led to the ridiculous weight gain.

I’ve had a few people say to me that I still eat too much and there are healthier options to what I eat, but what they don’t realise is that my body has gotten used to eating so much food and that its much harder than it may seem. Its essentially detoxing, getting rid of all the bad things I’ve put into my body then reducing my calorie intake quite drastically. At first I get really bad headaches and feel really unwell while I get used to not having loads of sugar and carbs. Yes its tough but really worth it after the first few days are done. Then I feel pretty great!

I’ve got a lot of things to look forward to over the next week, most of which are active! A few months ago I would never have thought I’d be where I am right now, going for runs, going for walks everyday and being very creative. But I’ve got this far and there’s no way to stop me now!

Here's a really cringe thought to finish with:

A Huge Thank You..

16 May 2014

I should probably start by saying thank you to everyone that took the time to read my blog! I’ve had so many messages from people saying how brave I was for taking the step to put my journey for people to see, which I’m so grateful for.

To be honest, it was a very hard thing to write about because you never know how people are going to react to the subject, especially with how judgemental people can be at the smallest thing.

So time for some good news, yesterday I had my first personal training session in over 3 weeks. As I have been completely overwhelmed with revision for most of that time I wasn’t able to get to the gym quite as much as I would have liked to, or eat as healthily as I was before. During the session I had to do a 15 minute fitness test that I did in my very first session two months ago, the result of this being that I doubled the amount of I did yesterday from the first time that I did. I must say I was completely shocked at how far I had come, and rather proud of myself.

The second bit of good news is that I weighed myself this morning and I’ve already lost 2lbs since Monday. So a pretty great day overall.

I really am so amazed by the support that I have got from family, friends and even old friends who I haven’t spoken to in years, so thank you, and I don’t think I could do this without the constant motivation that everyone is giving me to keep going.

My Journey To Lose 2 Stone in 3 Months

15 May 2014

A lot of people have that one picture that they look at and think ‘do I really look like that?’ well I’ve had a few too many of them and its seriously time to wake up and do something about it, I can’t just keep sitting around thinking that I’m as skinny as all my friends, because I’m not.

At the beginning of March I decided it was finally time to make a change, not just for a few weeks or months but a full on lifestyle change. This is for several reasons: my own health, a better quality of life and for my own happiness.

I’ve already done 6 weeks and lost a stone but unfortunately I put a bit back on over the stress of exams. Now they’re done, its time to lose 2 stone in 3 months (hence the title of the blog). I was very hesitant about putting up a picture but I guess this is the only progress picture I have. Wearing pretty much the same outfit, the first picture was taken on Christmas Day 2013 and the second picture was taken a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve already had quite a few questions asking me how I did it, and it’s really quite simple – regular exercise and really healthy eating, cutting back on everything and eating smaller portions of food. Anyone can do it if they put their mind to it, so I’m hoping this blog shows that you can.

I hope that whoever takes time to read this (and thank you) will carry on reading as I continue my journey over the next 3 months and beyond.
